Email me should there be any display problems.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Our first stop of the day was Kasbah des Oudaias, a sea-side fortress where Bou Regreg River meets the Atlantic Ocean. Kasbah des Oudaias was just next to Rabat Medina, not a long walk from the riad where we spent the night.<\/p>\n<p>If one were to attribute a color to Rabat&#8217;s Medina, it should be white, like the paint they applied to the alley walls. (One can barely call their splashes of paint as &#8220;modern art&#8221;.)<br \/>\nThe residents of Kasbah des Oudaias all chose to paint their houses in blue and white, the color of the sea and the sky. Walking among those houses was like wandering in a fairytale story. Aimed to be the world&#8217;s largest mosque and minaret, its construction was halted after the death of Sultan Yacub al-Mansour. When it&#8217;s open to the public, visitors can see the tombs of King Hassan II and Prince Abdallah, together with a ever-present Koran reader paid for by the state.<br \/>\nHowever, on that morning, we found the Mausoleum of Mohammed V fenced off, and didn&#8217;t find its entrance. It was already 12 o\u2019clock so we decided to finish our lunch first. It housed the tombs of Abu al-Hasan Ali ibn Othman, known as the Black Sultan.<br \/>\nBut to this day, the walled premises of Chellah was mostly occupied with trees and flowers. And those cranes made the most appalling animal sound that I ever heard of. There were some local people (presumably <del>unlicensed<\/del> tour guides) hiding out the rain beneath its magnificent entrance walls. The Palace grounds were open for free, but there&#8217;s a police station just nearby where one must put his passport there as a security deposit (how third-world is that?). If everything was right, we should board the train in like 5 minutes. And it&#8217;s not fun at all to stand at the ends of a fully-packed carriage with a giant suitcase for two hours.<br \/>\nOh, and the taxis at Meknes train station never used meter, typical Morocco style.<br \/>\nBut somehow that night, we managed to get to our riad in Meknes, and called it a day.<br \/>\nEND<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sixth day in Morocco as we woke up to a rainy morning.
