The castle is one of Japan&#8217;s most famous landmarks and it played a major role in the unification of Japan during the sixteenth century of the Azuchi-Momoyama period. It used to be the palace for Toyotomi Hideyoshi (\u8c4a\u81e3 \u79c0\u5409), while in 1614 Tokugawa Ieyasu(\u5fb3\u5ddd \u5bb6\u5eb7) defeated Toyotomi in the Siege of Osaka and claimed this castle. It&#8217;s an offering from <a href=\"https:\/\/ja.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/%E6%B1%A0%E7%94%B0%E5%BF%A0%E9%9B%84\" target=\"_blank\">Tadao Ikeda(\u6c60\u7530 \u5fe0\u96c4, link in Japanese)<\/a> residing in Okayama(\u5ca1\u5c71) Domain. The stone got this name for its slightly color left part that resembled an octopus. The current structure was rebuilt in 1950.<br \/>\nSo Tenshukaku today was a museum displaying arts and relics, and the stories of Toyotomi Hideyoshi (\u8c4a\u81e3 \u79c0\u5409) and Tokugawa Ieyasu(\u5fb3\u5ddd \u5bb6\u5eb7) and the battles between them.<br \/>\nAnd we covered our Tenshukaku ticket with our &#8220;Amazing Pass&#8221;.<br \/>\n<div style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption decided to try out Osaka Castle Tour Boat in the photo(which was also covered in &#8220;Osaka Amazing Pass&#8221;). Osaka Castle.<br \/>\n<div style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/Nz8vEWN.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/Nz8vEWNl.jpg\" alt=\"Human Faced Stone on Osaka Castle\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><\/br>Human Faced Stone on Osaka Castle<\/br><span style=\"font-size: small;\">It&#8217;s said that the Northeast Gate of Osaka City was &#8220;Ghost Gate&#8221;, so this stone with human face was put here to exorcize evil spirits. But now its grains were weathered, so I hardly recognized this stone on the tour boat.<\/span><\/p><\/div><br \/>\nFirst the tour boat took us under this human-faced stone. Times passed and this stone didn&#8217;t look very much different to the rest (then can it still fight off evil spirits?), so with the help of our boatman pointing + picture guide + my friend taking photos, I finally knew which was this special stone. <del>And my friends were seriously doubtful about my cognition abilities.<\/del><\/p>\n<p>The rest of the cruise was basically for us to take photos of Tenshukaku. The night cherry blossom viewing event is held during blooming periods, accompanied by artificial lights and attracting a large number of viewers.<br \/>\nI searched online and found that during the blooming periods people flocked to Nishinomaru Garden, but now it&#8217;s not cherry season and it&#8217;s barely visited by people, with more gardeners than visitors. But the fact was that I wasn&#8217;t able to locate its entrance (I guessed it&#8217;s closed for renovation). So it was a metro rush and we reached it half an hour before it closed.<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"Umeda_Sky_Building_Observation_Deck\">Umeda Sky Building Observation Deck<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Umeda Sky Building didn&#8217;t have a very high observation deck (just 150 meters), but since it surrounding buildings weren&#8217;t high either, there were still some nice views.<br \/>\nAnd it got flat
